Proud Mother Hen time again!
Last week, Jacob Foster, Franchisor at FCF Fire & Electrical was named a winner of the Next Generation in Franchising winner.
The Next Gen competition is an international competition where just 20 people are selected to attend the International Franchising Convention, along with a pre-convention workshop with the other winners plus also a year of mentoring and assistance from leading US franchisors.
Jacob started FCF Fire & Electrical just a few years ago and this was the first time he entered the competition – plus it was his last chance to enter as it has an age limit (I won’t reveal what that is!).
To be selected among the thousands of people that have entered this prestigious competition and then to be selected is not only an honour, but I can see the massive amount of knowledge it will bring to Jacob and the team at FCF Fire & Electrical.
Entering competitions can be a time consuming task and when it includes a video as part of the application, that can be out of many people’s comfort zone. I know it was for Jacob as I stood behind the camera for him!
What do I think was the reason Jacob was selected?
Now I don’t know what the judges were looking for, but I don’t think they would have been able to get past the fact that Jacob really wanted to win this competition. He didn’t want to win it to say he had won, he wanted to win it for the prize – to attend the IFA in 2016 with the extra workshops and the mentoring. He could see that this would be invaluable to the future growth of FCF Fire & Electrical and the franchisees – current and future. Add to this that Jacob is just a good, honest person who works hard to really find ways to help and support his franchisees. He didn’t enter this competition for himself, he entered it for the franchisees.
Well done Jacob! Can’t wait for you to join us at the IFA in 2016 in Texas!
